Day 15: Smile! (8.24.11)

During my morning meditation today, I asked “what is it I need to know for today?” I use that question every once in a while when my thoughts are just zooming all over the place, to center myself again. I tend to get images as a response. This time, a smile started to naturally spread across my face, for no reason at all. I laughed, “oh! lol All I have to do is smile? All day? lol ok”

All day long, the thought “smile!” gracefully and lovingly popped up in my head. lol I was all smiles today! lol and even during the times that were semi-tough, the thought, “Smile! It’ll all work out perfectly! You’ll see!” popped up in my head. It was wonderful.

You know what? It made my day 10 times better. πŸ™‚ Did you know that your physical behaviour can affect your brain chemistry? It’s true, it’s why smiling can trick the brain into actually thinking you’re happy. It’s the “fake it ’til you make it” syndrome. You start pretending like you’re happy, powerful, etc. and you might actually start to believe it ;). The Oprah magazine came out with a great article last month about how posture can actually affect how you feel about yourself due to the chemicals that are released! Crazy, right?

So, smile! Stand up straight! Walk with confidence! That’s an order! πŸ˜‰ When I’m feeling low in confidence, I’ve noticed that I do feel much better when I go for a walk… since I tend to walk with confidence and wonder as I stare up at trees and clouds. Fresh air, nature, and a power stance = a recipe for me feeling wayyy better. πŸ˜€

My day is wrapping up with a little lower energy than the rest of my day held, but that’s OK. Why? Because I can smile and make it all better!! lol πŸ˜€ Life’s training me to ride the waves of life, joyfully, fuly aware of how connected and perfect everything is. It’s scary at times, but it’s so great. I’m learning, vida hermosa, I’m learning. πŸ™‚
